Is there a registry hack that can do the same thing? I have one of those idiotic "new" OS from Microsoft that doesn't have the Windows components selection.

I wish they'd just fire the assholes that get paid to make our lives miserable by changin the UI with every release.

How do I join Windows 7 Homegroup from Windows XP. I installed Windows 7 RC on my laptop, and my desktop has Windows XP. I can share/see the files in my desktop from my laptop, but my desktop (windows xp) cannot join the homegroup in windows 7. (There is no 'join homegroup' option in windows xp).

I have not been able to find the move scripts discussed here.
I started with the document WSS3.0_WHSv2.0.2.pdf. The link in the document is invalid. I found another link somewhere else, but it started with "cid", so I had a feeling it would also be invalid, and it is.

Anyone know where to get the scripts?

I too am having this problem with Outlook 2007, Exchange 2007 and SharePoint. In every other situation (Outlook 2003/7 & Exchange 2003) it works fine.

I've yet to try installing Sharepoint on my WHS until now because I didn't have a good use for it (other than interest). Now, I do, so I have a question:

Can users be assigned under Sharepoint that are not "users" within my network and WHS?

I need to set up a Sharepoint Site for a development team I am involved with, none of whom (other than myself) are users with my home network.

Is this possible?

Hi Tom,
first of all: great guide! But no matter what I try to do (did I miss something?), I can't log on to my sharepoint site out of my network. I have configured the startpage as a public page, no problem. I can access the page via internet from outside, no problem. But I can't log on, no matter what I use as domain - the servers internal name, the url or nothing at all. I can log on from any computer in my network at home, even with the "internet url". But not from outside. I guess, it is something with access mapping, but don't know what. So, what to do?

Tom, excellent directions. I had to tweak my SQL script a little to get it to work.

Question, is there a way I can connect to my SharePoint from the Internet via a private link on the Remote Access Home tab? I'm having a tough time coming up with a URL redirect.

Thanks.
